Less is More

A repository a year later for the thoughts of an insomniac. Reading Tom Robbins, watching "Criminal Minds" and trying to slow down. Less is more and I want less in my pursuit of "more."

The blank page and the words unwritten, the hardest is yet to come--motivation to create, motivation to write and motivation to edit. It will come.

Thirty nine is officially here and I'm trying to figure out what it should feel like. Each time I hit a milestone it's never what I expected. My idea of age changes as I age. I don't feel "old" but 39 isn't young unless you're talking to someone on the verge of 70...

Here's to pushing 40 and what the next decade brings. I'm sure it won't be what I expected.

Cooking for Two Vs. Twelve

My Friend Clancy used to be a pastry chef in her last life. This time around she's an attorney. While her cooking skills haven't deserted her she faces a dilemma when paring down her culinary efforts.

Cooking for two is easy for the civilian. For the professional two is the problem... task them with cooking for a crowd of twelve or more and they whip into action. She brought biscuits to a breakfast we were hosting. I was excited for fluffy southern style biscuits, she hails from Tennessee originally. Clancy instead offered hockey pucks with a laugh and said she wasn't used to making a small batch. And so it goes.

Thanksgiving is around the corner and Clancy is hosting. We have at least twelve people at the table which is great for her, now if I can just figure out how many butternut squash to buy, and how much mashed potatoes we'll be set.

TiVo & Time Warner

I thought TiVo would rock my world. I bought into the "bloop bloop" mania and plopped down the dinero for HD. "It's easy" my friends assured, you'll be able to hook it up with no problem.
Famous last words. I called Time Warner cable, you see TiVo HD requires two cards from your cable company.

Oh, and they won't give them to you, Time Warner has to come install them I was told by a rep. Insert [how many guys does it take] joke here. I have suffered 3 visits with 5 men, none of which have successfully installed two cable cards into what should be life changing TV viewing. Perhaps its just a sign that I need Direct TV again, or I need to read a book.
